Charlotte, Here's How You Can Give

Posted by Mike Foster Letters come in each week to People of the Second Chance from inmates across the nation who have been moved by Freeway or our Second Chance Bible.  They each have their own unique, broken and beautiful story.  But there is something they all have in common. They ask for prayer and more materials.

So, People of the Second Chance is continuing to tangibly and spiritually give and radical things are happening. More prisons are opening up their facilities to receive care kit donations from our organization. And it’s hitting close to home.  Union and Mecklenburg County Prisons, neighbors to the People Of The Second Chance Charlotte headquarters, have decided to partner with us this year.

"We’re so thankful for People of the Second Chance,” said a Charlotte area Sheriff. "The Christmas care packages bring hope to those that are incarcerated this holiday season.”

Three hundred Christmas care kits have been sent to Union and 1,500 will be delivered on December 21 to Mecklenburg County correctional facilities. That’s a grand total of 1,800 lives impacted by the hope of Jesus and support of neighbors! That’s all possible because of you.

Your giving through our Merry and Bright campaign, bundling up packages and prayers over the recipients of these care kits have transformed thousands of lives. You have brought community to someone who is lonely.  You have turned around a hopeless situation with joy. You have held hands with someone who has felt excluded, letting them know we’re all in this together.

If you would like to join us in supporting an inmate in Charlotte and across America, we haven't reached our end of year goal and there is still time to donate.  It’s easy and there are some great perks.  Simply visit our Merry and Bright campaign webpage here, select your perk and purchase your exclusive People Of The Second Chance merchandise.  Or make a donation by clicking “contribute now.” The cost of just two Starbucks lattes ($10) creates a care package for an inmate and your donation is tax deductible.

We are so excited to hear more about how your gifts will create a "Merry and Bright" Christmas for inmates in Charlotte.  Great things are to come!
