Cassandra Bankson is something of a makeup guru.  For people who follow that sort of thing, she's a serious player.  At only 19 years old, she has a huge following on YouTube, where she dispenses makeup and lifestyle tips to her audience. Her channel has become something more than that, though: it's a place for discussion and healing.  About a year and a half ago, she posted a video that revealed her severe acne -- and the great lengths she goes to for covering it up.  The video became a place where people with similar problems have flocked to find and offer support.  Stylist Mag picked up the story and highlighted her bravery.

When she first reveals her natural face, you can hear the tears of embarassment and frustration in her voice, as she bares her greatest insecurity to the world.  But with each step in her makeup routine, more of her confidence returns.  Finally, after 8 different products, she is finished.  And the funny thing is that you get the sense that this is the real her.  Confident, knowledgeable, and capable.

Can that be right?  8 layers of makeup to reveal the real you?  Yes, I think it can, because the real you is the one without insecurity ... the one that fulfills everything you were meant to be.

This post isn't about makeup.  It's about what we're capable of doing when we feel truly comfortable in our skin.  There's a good chance that your insecurity can't be reshaped with makeup, but that's ok.  Sometimes just knowing that others stand with you as you fight your battles is enough.

So we want you to know that we stand with you. Whatever you're going through, you're not alone. You're more than your shortcomings, and you're more than your obstacles. Together, we are People of the Second Chance, and we're all in this together.
