THREE MORNINGS

By Angus Nelson: Sunday morning, church filled faces, pretty places Smiles, hand shakes, how do you do’s

Sunday morning, songs sung, melodies raised “bless you”, “love you”, “see you next week!”

Sunday morning, real or plastic, the authentic lost mask, facade, joyous salute - a religious tradition

Monday morning, traffic lanes, bubbler complaints, fist bumps, hand shakes, “how was your weekend?”

Monday morning, gossip bitter, innuendos flitter, pop culture, sportscenter, meaningless chatter

Monday morning, real or plastic, the authentic lost mask, facade, joyous salute - a cubical tradition

Where is the real me? What difference will I be? What have I become in this sea of mundane?

repression, regression, depression Why should I try?

Yet...

This morning, shame is depleted, guilt receded fresh reflection in Christ who I am

This morning, identity pristine, perspective gleaned, new hope, fresh vision, an intentional advance

This morning, peace renewed, optimistic view, liberty fresh, motives pure, a life made clean,

This is the real me, accepted, loved, despite imperfection free of performance, an amazing creation.

restoration, meditation, transformation, to me I must die.

It’s a grace morning.
